Why are you spending money now to redesign the website? Why don’t you wait?

A redesign of the City’s website was originally scheduled to be done following completion of the City’s One Brand Project . The One Brand project is currently on hold until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, it was determined that a redesign should go forward now to modernize the website and improve the user experience.

The current websites were launched in 2015, since that time there has been significant changes in technology and it’s important that the City update our website to stay current and ensure that we are offering the type of online services residents have come to expect in 2021. Also, certain functions are outdated and may not be supported by our vendor in the future.

Also, through surveys and polls, residents continue to tell us that our website is the one of the top channels they use to find out about city programs, services and initiatives.

    How much will this cost?

The first phase of the project is expected to cost approximately $150,000. A budget for phase two hasn’t been finalized or approved at this time.

Will I be able to have a say in the redesign?

Yes. Throughout all the phases residents will have the ability to provide input and feedback. The first engagement opportunity is expected to occur later this summer. Check getinvolvedburlington.ca for up to date information on engagement opportunities.

    Who is doing this work?

Internal City staff working with the City’s website vendor, eSolutions will be undertaking this work.
