The City of Burlington has retained CIMA+ to conduct a Traffic Management Study for the Sheldon Creek Neighbourhood. The study area is bounded by Appleby Line in the west, Upper Middle Road in the north, Mainway in the south and the Sheldon Creek Naturalized Area in the east. The purpose of the study is to review traffic, speeding and parking issues within the neighbourhood in a holistic manner, engage with the public and identify traffic calming and parking management solutions to address the identified issues.

    CIMA+ and the City of Burlington have completed the Traffic Management and Safety Review of the Sheldon Creek neighborhood. The detailed report including the findings, recommendations, and all collected data are now available to view


    The report and recommendations will be presented to City Council at the Committee of the Whole on February 5th/6th, 2024, under report number “TS-03-24”. If you wish to appear as a delegate and speak regarding the report, you will need to register by 12 noon the Friday before.

    Join City of Burlington staff, and the retained consultant, CIMA+, as they will give a brief recap of the project to date and previously received resident concerns and requests. CIMA will then summarize the findings of the various neighbourhood studies, and present alternatives devised to mitigate identified safety issues and neighbourhood parking concerns.

    The development of the Sheldon Creek Neighbourhood Traffic Management Plan is an ongoing study and is targeted for completion during the first quarter of 2023. Current activities include finalizing recommendations and reviewing the development proposal at 1989 Appleby Line to identify potential impacts to the Sheldon Creek neighbourhood, something identified by area residents as important.

    The next steps in the Sheldon Creek Neighbourhood Traffic Management Plan include a virtual public meeting with members of the community. This is being planned for March 2023 and will provide the project team an opportunity to present the outcomes of the study and for residents of the Sheldon Creek neighbourhood to provide the city with feedback.
