The City of Burlington is undertaking a comprehensive Sport Policy Review project to ensure our sport-related policies continue to meet the needs of our growing and evolving community. The project will review how recreation and sport facilities are allocated and will develop updated policies that support fair, transparent, accessible, and sustainable access to City-owned recreation amenities.

Why is this work being done?

Burlington continues to grow and evolve. As participation patterns change and demand for recreation spaces increases, the City must ensure its policies remain current, responsive, and aligned with community needs. The review will help establish a modern framework

The City of Burlington is undertaking a comprehensive Sport Policy Review project to ensure our sport-related policies continue to meet the needs of our growing and evolving community. The project will review how recreation and sport facilities are allocated and will develop updated policies that support fair, transparent, accessible, and sustainable access to City-owned recreation amenities.

As participation patterns change and demand for recreation spaces increases, the City must ensure its policies remain current, responsive, and aligned with community needs. The review will help establish a modern framework for allocating our limited public recreation spaces while balancing fairness, transparency, accessibility, and operational realities.

This project focuses on:

  • Reviewing and updating the City’s Facility Allocation Policy.

  • Developing a new Affiliate Group Policy.

  • Developing a new Exclusive Use of Amenities Policy.

  • Creating supporting procedures, tools, and guidance to assist with implementation.

  • Facility Allocation Policy Survey

    The City of Burlington is reviewing its recreation and sports policies. This will help make facility bookings more fair, clear, and better meet the needs of our growing community. This survey invites community members, households, and sport and recreation organizations to share their feedback.


    Many people have more than one connection to recreation in Burlington.  For example, you may be a resident, parent, coach, volunteer, or representative of a community organization. You will be asked to identify the role which you are answering from today. Please complete the survey based on the role that best reflects the views you wish to share. 


    This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and perspectives.



    Personal information being collected in this survey is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25 and disclosure of responses will be governed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56. Personal information will be used to inform of the diverse backgrounds of survey participants and ensure inclusive representation. Your personal information is confidential and survey responses will only be reported in a de-identified, aggregate manner. They may be included in a corporate dashboard or Council report to highlight the range of perspectives gathered.
