Web Redesign Concept Update

Thank you, Burlington residents, for providing input on your new City website.

Combined with our previous website navigation testing engagement, we have had 472 total respondents. Thank you for providing us valuable insights on what issues are currently being experienced with our existing site and what the ideal state would be for our future site.

For our homepage design concepts engagement we had 265 responses. Concept 3 and 2 were the preferred designs.

  • Concept 3 - 102 (38.5%)
  • Concept 2 - 92 (34.7%)
  • Concept 1 - 71 (26.8%)

Final design concept

We used this information and additional comments provided to combine elements from the top two concepts (2 and 3) to create a new hybrid concept. This concept will use the overall design of concept 3, with the news centre and slide out navigation menu from concept 2.

Your feedback: Overall themes

The overall themes in the responses to existing site issues and what residents would like to see improved on the new site were the following:

  1. Improve and enhance the site search functionality
  2. Improve and optimize site map and menu navigation
  3. Reduce overall content and improve accuracy and relevance
  4. Increase and enhance online service options
  5. Improve and optimize mobile experience

All the above issues are identified as priority items in our website redesign scope of work and are key components to ensuring our web modernization project is successful and reflective of our resident’s needs.

Next steps

Next steps will be to begin building the new website and populating with content in preparation of a site launch in late July early August this year. With the new website we will also be launching an improved and redesigned calendar site.
