The City’s Live and Play Plan draft recommendations are now available for review and feedback! 

The City of Burlington is preparing a Live and Play Plan to guide recreational and cultural facility decisions over the next 10 years, with a longer-term outlook over a 20-to-30-year period. The scope of the Plan includes:

• Indoor recreation facilities such as arenas, pools, and gymnasiums;
• Cultural facilities such as music centres and student theatres; and
• Outdoor recreation facilities such as sports fields, playgrounds, splash pads and more.

Background research was done on key trends, facility inventories and usage, and in understanding the community profile. A Community Engagement Strategy was also developed to guide and implement an extensive consultation program, including the use of Get Involved Burlington as the primary platform to promote the Plan. In-person and virtual engagement tactics were carried out, including public information centres, a community survey, stakeholder focus groups, staff workshops, Council interviews, and written input.
