Heritage properties, whether publicly or privately owned, are a community asset. They help conserve Burlington’s history and characteristics of our neighbourhoods.

The Ontario Heritage Act gives the City tools that allow us to protect these properties. The Planning Act sets out the rules for provincial, regional and municipal plans and policies that support the City’s efforts to conserve heritage properties.

The Municipal Register is the City’s official list of regulated heritage properties. It is an essential tool in the City’s heritage conservation toolkit.

We are reviewing 33 properties in the Burlington Avenue and Ontario Street study area for heritage conservation district designation. We are looking for input.
