Celebrate National Forest Week in Burlington

National Forest Week takes place Sept. 20 to 26, 2026. This annual celebration encourages Canadians to learn more about forest heritage and the important role forests play in our communities, economy and everyday lives.

To mark National Forest Week, the City of Burlington is partnering with BurlingtonGreen to offer several opportunities for residents to connect with nature, learn from experts and help grow Burlington's urban forest.

Ask an Arborist Webinar

• Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
• Virtual event
• Registration required.

Join Kyle McLoughlin, Board Certified Master Arborist and Supervisor of Forest Planning and Health with the City of Burlington, for a free webinar focused on all things tree health. Participants can submit tree-related questions during registration or email them to BurlingtonGreen before Sept. 23.

Bonus: Burlington residents who attend will be entered into a draw to win a free tree to plant at home, courtesy of the City of Burlington.

Tree Loving Care Workshop

• Thursday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to approximately noon
• Mohawk Park, 240 Kenwood Ave.
• Registration required. Space is limited.

Hosted by BurlingtonGreen and City of Burlington forestry staff, this hands-on stewardship event brings community members together to help care for Burlington's urban forest.

Participants will plant native trees, remove invasive plants and shrubs, weed and mulch planting areas, and create native seed balls to support local biodiversity.

Community Tree Planting at Longmoor Park

• Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to approximately noon
• Longmoor Park, 4501 Longmoor Dr.
• Registration required. Space is limited.

Help grow Burlington's urban forest by joining BurlingtonGreen and City forestry staff for a community tree planting event. Together, volunteers will plant 500 native trees and shrubs to enhance local green spaces and support wildlife habitat.

As an added bonus, several participants will win a tree to plant at their Burlington home.
