Round Two Engagement!

The City of Burlington is starting its second round of engagement to support the update to the City-wide Community Trails Strategy Update (CTSU).

To start, thank you for all of the input and ideas shared as part of our first round of engagement to help shape the foundations of the CTSU. You can read the summary document of input received in round 1 engagement and how it was used.

This next round of engagement will dive deeper into specific trail focus areas, gaps, potential improvements, and design solutions as well as strategies to achieve broader City goals and objectives. Your feedback will help shape solutions, priorities, guide future investments, and ensure that Burlington’s trails are accessible, connected, and welcoming for all.

What we’ll be focusing on:

  • Providing a recap of Round One feedback and technical work completed since then

  • Identifying trail gaps and opportunities for new connections within a series of trail focus areas

  • Reviewing trail classifications and identifying design needs and solutions

  • Setting community priorities for improvements over the next 0 – 20 years

  • Discussing and refining potential solutions and strategies to support a sustainable, accessible, and well managed/maintained trail system

This is your chance to help Burlington’s trails meet the needs of today’s residents and future generations.

Round 2 will be organized into two stages:

Stage 1 – focus area information gathering and feasibility:

  • Councilor Conversations to better understand localized needs

  • Southwest Burlington Focus Area Workshop held with local agencies and interest groups about needs and improvements within this specific area of the City.

  • Committee Meetings to share preliminary ideas for improvements and design solutions, specifically with the accessibility and cycling committees.

Stage 2 – proposed gaps and solutions, as well as strategies for prioritization and refinement

  • Online Engagement will launch in November 2025, providing residents with opportunities to share feedback through a survey and mapping tool.

  • Technical Agency and Community Interest Group Workshop to discuss trail gaps, links, and ideas for design solutions.

  • Two Public Open Houses will be held (both in-person and online) in November 2025 to present and confirm trail gaps, classifications, and community priorities.

  • Two Community Pop-ups at the beginning of Dec 2025 to engage with residents and gather area-specific feedback on trail gaps and priorities
