The City of Burlington is working on our Transit Strategic Plan for 2026-2030. This plan will help us grow and improve our transit services over the next five years.
The good news is that we’re not starting from scratch! We will start the 2026-2030 Transit Strategic Plan based on the transit work we did over the past five years as part of our last plan. In this last plan, called the Five-Year Business Plan (2020-2024), we made improvements like:
- using a grid to plan our routes
- increasing the frequency of our buses
- increased the number of buses to support service growth
- investigated sustainable fleet options including electric and hybrid options
- introduced fare strategies
These changes helped grow transit ridership by 48 per cent to 3.6 million in 2024.
In this new plan, we’re focused on how Burlington Transit can help support you and the City as we grow. This means looking at making transit easier to use to get you where you need to go and looking at how our service can improve; and ensuring financial sustainability of the system.
We want to hear from you! As we work on this new plan over the next few months, we will be asking you to share your thoughts. We want you to let us know what’s working and what needs to be improved to encourage you to use Burlington Transit.

From time to time, the City updates its by-laws to reflect the community’s changing needs.
With the City’s new By-law Compliance department being established in 2022/2023, we are now able to dedicate more comprehensive oversight of all bylaws. We routinely assess bylaw effectiveness and consider whether to recommend rescinding, updating or dedicating more education efforts towards City by-laws.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Take a few minutes to fill out the survey and let us know what matters most to you. The by-laws listed in this survey have been selected for a variety of reasons, such as community interest, relevance, or recent trends in nearby municipalities. Your feedback will help guide how we shape by-laws to better reflect our community.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary. Individual responses will be kept confidential. Non-identifiable summaries of responses may be developed and shared publicly. For questions regarding the collection, use and disclosure of this information, please contact shannon.doornik@burlington.ca The survey is available in print, alternative formats or with communication support by contacting getinvolved@burlington.ca.
