Development of the City of Burlington’s first comprehensive Stormwater Masterplan (SWMP) prepared in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment principles.
The SWMP will assess how the existing stormwater system is performing, identify flood prone areas and develop a city-wide dual drainage model. The plan will recommend drainage and infrastructure improvements, climate change adaptation measures and updates to the City’s stormwater management standards. The plan will conclude with an implementation plan to guide short and long term actions and capital planning.
The project is being undertaken to improve stormwater system performance, reduce flood risk, enhance water quality and build climate resilience. It will provide the city with strategic evidence-based framework to prioritize investments support decision-making and plan future stormwater management programs and infrastructure.
