Facility Allocation Policy Survey

The City of Burlington is reviewing its recreation and sports policies. This will help make facility bookings more fair, clear, and better meet the needs of our growing community. This survey invites community members, households, and sport and recreation organizations to share their feedback.


Many people have more than one connection to recreation in Burlington.  For example, you may be a resident, parent, coach, volunteer, or representative of a community organization. You will be asked to identify the role which you are answering from today. Please complete the survey based on the role that best reflects the views you wish to share. 


This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and perspectives.



Personal information being collected in this survey is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25 and disclosure of responses will be governed by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56. Personal information will be used to inform of the diverse backgrounds of survey participants and ensure inclusive representation. Your personal information is confidential and survey responses will only be reported in a de-identified, aggregate manner. They may be included in a corporate dashboard or Council report to highlight the range of perspectives gathered. Policies

Part of the work includes updating the Facility Allocation Policy. It will also include developing two new policies related to Affiliate Organizations and Exclusive Use of Amenities. The purpose of these policies is outlined below:

Facility Allocation Policy [Existing]: Explains how the City decides allocation access to recreation facilities and spaces for City programs, local groups, and the public.

Affiliate Group Policy [New]: Explains what it means to be an affiliate group with the City. It outlines how sports clubs, community groups, and other organizations can become or remain affiliate groups as well as the benefits of affiliation.  Affiliate groups rent City facilities and provide programs, services, or activities that are open and accessible to the  community .

Exclusive Use of Amenities Policy [New]: Explains how groups use certain City spaces over a longer period of time. These spaces support recreation programs and community activities. The policy outlines how the City reviews requests in a fair and consistent way. Dedicated spaces may include arena dressing rooms, storage areas, and other City-owned spaces.
