Downtown Parking Plan

Burlington is evolving from a suburban community to a city. The city is changing, especially in our downtown core. As more residents and businesses move to Burlington, this impacts how we choose to get around, especially in the downtown.
Parking plays a crucial role in this. Where you can park, for how long and how much it costs determines if you walk, cycle, take transit, drive or ride share. It also affects housing prices and the look and feel of our downtown.
The City’s Integrated Mobility Plan recommends a Strategic Parking Management Program to focus on improving parking. We need to match the supply and cost of parking with our transportation objectives. Parking is a key service that supports residents, services, retailers, events, tourism and visitors, especially in our downtown.
We’re studying parking in our downtown through a Downtown Parking Plan (DPP). This plan will help us figure out future parking needs to support growth and land use in the downtown area. Having a strategic downtown parking plan will result in better parking options and financial sustainability.
