New Ward Boundaries update

In May, City Council passed a bylaw, 30-2025, to make minor changes to the city’s ward structure. The appeal period for the by-law expired on July 4, 2025 and no notices of appeal were received by the City Clerk.

The new City of Burlington ward boundaries will officially come into force, following the 2026 municipal election, on the day the new City Council is inaugurated. However, the 2026 election will be conducted as if the new boundaries are already in force.

The new ward structure will accommodate growth and population shifts for the next three municipal elections. It also aims to help ensure voters are represented equally in decision-making, no matter where they live in the city. The changes impact Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. View the new ward structure here.
