The City completed its last Asset Management Plan in 2021, and work is now underway to update it in compliance with Ontario Regulation 588/17. The Asset Management Plan is one tool used to help keep our roads, bridges, buildings, storm water management, parks, community centres, etc. in good repair. The City's $6.3 billion in infrastructure assets support a range of municipal services that enable residents, businesses and other Burlington stakeholders to live, work and play in our city.
One component of the updated Asset Management Plan will be defining Levels of Service, both current and proposed. The Project Team is launching a survey to help them better understand community expectations on levels of service from our infrastructure. The survey asks residents how satisfied they are with City infrastructure, and what, if any, kinds of investments or improvements they would like to see. The feedback will help the City make more strategic decisions about providing services through public infrastructure over the long term.
The City’s infrastructure assets include:
Roads, sidewalks, streetlights, parking
Recreational facilities and buildings
Stormwater infrastructure such as pipes, culverts and stormwater management ponds
Parks and living assets (urban forestry)
Fleet vehicles (e.g. fire trucks, snowplows and buses)
Equipment such as playgrounds, ice resurfacers, ATVs, electric vehicle charging stations, and firefighting equipment
Asset Management Survey launches. Open until Feb. 12
July 1, 2025
Asset Management Plan is currently at this stage
Date for municipalities to have an approved asset management plan for all municipal infrastructure assets that identifies current and proposed levels of service, and the cost to maintaining those levels of service.
